World Central Kitchen and a lesson in empathy

I just wanted to share with you all the results of our World Central Kitchen Fund Raiser. Before I get into dollars raised, I’d like to explain the impact on my team.

Giving is rewarding for both the receiver and the giver. Giving and helping others gives someone a feeling of empowerment especially when you are seeing or hearing about frightening things, like constant earthquakes or fires in Australia. My team had a connection to these scary things happening in other places in the world through the Lugo and Kiefel families. They were incredibly pleased with themselves creating and then selling the cakes. They could see the work they were doing was going to put a hot meal into the hands of someone via World Central Kitchen.

It was an incredible lesson in empathy, knowing others have feelings. For all the professionals, that say people on the spectrum lack the ability to empathize, I say don’t underestimate my guys! Don’t underestimate anyone’s ability, compassion, grace or heart. It says not to underestimate us on our stinkin’ t-shirts!!!!!

Thank you to the community that came out to support our efforts! We raised exactly $500 dollars!!!

World Central Kitchen is a not-for-profit non-governmental organization devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters. Here’s a link for you to learn more about their organization.
